WANT TO BUY A COUPLE STATIONS?

Now that Relevant Radio is being heard on WNTD 950AM, RR930AM and RR1270AM have been put up for sale. It was reported
in Robert Feder's Chicago Sun-Times column today. Just for fun if you could buy one or both of these stations and program them
however you wanted, what would you put on them? I have a few ideas but I'll wait to see what others say. A lot of people on
this board have come up with what I thought were some good ideas in the past, so please post them here whatever they are.
It's Christmas time so let's have some fun and let everyone share there ideas, without telling anyone there idea is wrong.
Play nice kids ;D

WAUR = Sports with a strong focus on high School sports.

What's really going to happen is someone will buy it to broker the time.
Perhaps the owners of 1080 in oak lawn. Inside Radio had a story that
the company has a lot of venture capital money lined up.

What can you do with rimshot AMs?

WKRS in Waukegan does seem to make it work with local talk -- local as in "Lake County." Maybe you could do "The Talk Of Kane County," or something.

How about 100% PFP religious preachers?

-or-

a station that focuses on
birth announcements, funeral announcements, classified ads, etc 100%. Everything would be purchased. Like a classified ads station.

In additon, PI's and local news and sports.

This would provide local businesses a chance to sell there wares cheaply.

Let me LMA and split the profit with the owners.. I would program based on research of the 30 year, plus population of local adults within the 1.0 m/Mv day signal and go 'local yokel'.....See what local businesses there are and keep the rates as low as you can for the first 24 to 36 months..... A suburban version of Mayberry radio, and stream on the internet for home/nighttime coverage..... 'Wah-La!".... ;D

Since I grew up in NW Indiana, I'd be more concerned with what to do with WWCA-11270. That's tough. The Coe family tried it's best for many years but saw the hand writing on the wall. Bishop Willis made it a laughing stock. It never did change its city of license to E'Chicago, thankfully Relevant Radio probably made the minimal technical improvements to the technical facility to make it legal. Sadly, the cost of maintaining a 4 tower DA that shoots into the lake overshadows any return on investment. CC could lease it to fill in the gaps of WGCI's coverage. Other than that, Good bye!

As for AM930 I would like to see Nelson the owners of AM1180 and AM1480 re-buy the station and put one of the formats they are
currently running on those signals on the AM930 frequency because at least during the day with their 2,500 watt signal they basically
cover the whole metropolitan area. Nelson previously owned the station into the mid 1990's. They could then use AM1180 for a
daytime local news talk to compete with AM1360 WLBK in De Kalb. The reason I say daytime is that the nightime signal on AM1180
is only 1 watt and can only be heard for about 2 or 3 miles. The nightime signal on AM930 is 4,200 watts. Nelson seems pretty committed
to local radio so I would like to see a company like them buy the station, but with the economy the way it is unless they got a good
deal it probably won't happen. As for WWCA AM1270 I would like to see them take the place of WCGO AM1600 since they got a CP
to move to Michigan, it appears they will be leaving Chicago Heights so the power can be boosted on WONX AM1590 Evanston. I think
if they also threw in some local news weather and traffic they could also take on the once great WJOB AM1230 that is nothing more
than a shell of it's former self. If something like this does not happen I agree with the previous posters who said they will either go
wall to wall brokering or just cease to broadcast at all, especially AM1270. By the way Nelson runs Timeless Classics on AM1180 and
they were running Music Of Your Life on AM1480(they might be running Jones now). Well that's my little radio fantasy I hope you didn't
get a headache reading it :D
