Want to vote in a MODERATED HD power increase poll?

I think perhaps this poll is a little slanted? Mine was neither counted nor published at this point anyway. Good thing presidential elections are not moderated.

I didn't get published either so !

I was going to say nay but I say yay for this reason: right now the first-adjacent wipeout on FM only affects a few who can be argued as being DXing fools. ::)
Once the power is increased the effects of iBlock will be heard by far more people in more common situation. :D

Just IMHO, YMMV. 8)
Also, misery loves company as you have more people on your side. :p

The posters here hoping that a 10db increase will open the floodgates in terms of complaints from non-dxers would be wise not hold their breath. When the 10 db increase is granted, it won't even be a story - except on this board. The only result of the increase will be a needed shot in the arm for FM HD radio. Allowing only 1% injection is insidious because it just sets the system up for failure.

And again, which Clear Channel, Entercom, Citadel or other group stations are going to fork over the money for a complete rebuild of their RF plants to gain this wonderful technology so many listeners are clammoring for? Should BE, Continental, Harris and Nautel begin gearing up right now for production of new, whiz bang, higher power HD transmitters, combiners and reject loads? I bet Lowery Mays is licking his chops at the prospect of going further out on the leading edge. There's gonna be a battle to get that extra 10 dB in the air as fast as possible to win over those HD demanding listeners. Get your orders in for the new gear ASAP.

HD itself set up radio for failure because most people don't realize why their radios are working so "bad" and I'm talking the 99.99% of people who still and always will listen on analog radios, people with HD radios KNOW why they work so "badly". This would just head more people towards alternate forms of entertainment because most will not know why FM radio is not coming in as well as it used to just like AM radio listeners so they will blame radio itself not iBlock. HD radio blew it's chance already, there aren't any second chances for a technology that has already proved itself to be a bomb. Does anyone here actually think that there's going to be a new round of free advertising on radio and stores are going to restock with HD radios that they couldn't give away?

HD RADIO!!! SEEDY QUALITY, AND THIS TIME WE REALLY MEAN IT!!!!!! IT'S LIKE RADIO WITH A HAIR WEAVE!!!!

Boy, for a failed technology you sure do spend a lot of time talking about it. Imagine if it was a success, like pay satellite radio.

I think anytime a Huge Disaster happens people like to talk about it. Hindenburg, Edsel, Air France plane crash, HD, you know what I mean. At least Ford had the good sense to stop making the Edsel after three years, how many years went into designing, implementing and the non-selling of HD, 15 years now? I think many of us marvel that some elements of radio are so stubborn they won't admit they have a complete loser on their hands, any other business would have dropped this thing (like Ford's Edsel) like a hot potato 2 years ago after they realized no matter how much it was pushed people just weren't buying it.

But the key is that you don't just talk about it. You sir are fixated on the subject, which to the healthy mind is strange. You've made your points about HD radio over and over again and to the best of my knowledge have posted on the subject just about every day since you found this site. That's not the sign of just interest, it's the sign of someone who views this subject so personally that he has focuse his life around it. That's very strange.

Funny, I wasn't aware that HD radio was actually broadcasting 15 years ago. that's an indication that you have an unhealthy dislike for this technology. 15 years ago there were no HD stations broadcasting so the only reason you would have ben concerned about it is that you've lost track of reality. Just my observation, not scientific. By the way, you can't compare HD with the Edsel. the Edsel was only manufactured for 3 years, 1958-1960. As you said, HD has been around for 15 (even if technologically speaking the system has evolved over time, using different, more sophisticated coding from when it was first being developed).

15 years ago they were designing, implementing and non-selling sir, which is what I wrote, I said nothing about broadcasting it 15 years ago, probably ought to read a little more carefully sir or are you like other posters who ignore the content of posts and pick them apart and try to distort the meaning or maybe you just are a very good reader? Maybe I need to upgrade to extra class, does the extra arrogance come with it or is it acquired over time?
