WANTED: PRE-1980 RATINGS

Do you have any radio ratings books from prior to 1980, or know someone who does? Please reply or PM me if you have any old ARB or Hooper books. I'm more than happy to get scans or copies, and am even willing to pay if you're willing to part with them.

I've seen some on-line, I believe the Phila. Radio Pioneers site has some.

Try Google books. They have all of the old Billboard magazines on there. If you have the patience to hunt through the
1970s editions, they have ratings in them.

Billboard didn't begin regularly publishing Arbitron numbers until the early 80s - and even then it was just quick recaps mentioning a handful of stations. (Although there was a feature focusing on morning drive numbers on a market-by-market basis in '78 and '79.) Full market-by-market listings began in '85 and ran until they were moved over to its sister publication Billboard Monitor in the late 90s.

There are a few articles and the occasional Claude Hall column from prior to 1980 that mention some numbers - but it's very little information overall. (Trust me, I've scoured every edition on Google Books.)

Hopefully someone out there has some old books stashed away and can help fill in the historical gaps before it all becomes lost to history.
