Wanting to get back into the business

Thanks for reading this. My last on air shift was way back in 89. At that time due to some changes in my life I left the business. Here it is 2006 and I'm about to turn the big five-0. I've always had the radio bug and would love to get back into the business. Here's the dilemma, and where I need input. Since my last shift was 17 yrs ago, I don't have a current air check. What type of tape should I put together? Should I fake an on air shift or should I just, for laclk of a better term, plead my case on the demo to just let Program Directors hear my voice. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Kevin

Why wait, Kevin?

Kevin,
Welcome back!
Make connections right away..make calls, e-mails and try to get an airshift..no need to fake it! Times have changed since you got out though (that's when I got in!) so don't be shocked but be prepared and have fun..it can still be that way if you take time to reach out to the right people. Explain your situation and go for it! I have two friends in your situation right now and they are doing the same thing..good luck.

Hi Kevin,

I just noticed your post here today.

I recently wrote about "Getting Into The Radio Biz," in answer to some questions from someone else. Maybe something there could give you ideas.

Go to my new blog:

http://radioboyalan.blogspot.com

It's the post for Tuesday, April 11.

Get to know some folks in the biz. That's the best way.

Very best wishes! I hope you find something you enjoy.<P ID="signature">______________
