WAOO LPFM 94.5 Suwanee Testing

I live in Buford but over the last several days I have been hearing looped guitar based instrumental music (good bit of Latin style but other styles mixed in) playing on 94.5 FM. The RDS is showing ‘WAOO 94.5 FM’. Looking it up in the radio-locator database, it is the LPFM (22 watts) licensed to Suwanee. The tower the antenna is on is the tall tower on the ridge off of the Sugarloaf exit of I-85. The tower and transmitter building sits between the Homewood Suites and Home2 Suites properties off of North Brown Road on the Lawrenceville side of I-85.

I haven’t heard this frequency active in a while. I do vaguely remember it being Spanish Christian at one point. It looks like they are starting it back up again.

I work in Duluth and drive by the tower all the time and can confirm it is strong and coming from that location. It starts to fade and gets mixed in with the overlap of a number of stations on 94.5 as I drive back home to Buford.

Didn't this used to be a Catholic LPFM, carrying EWTN or something from St. Monica's Catholic Church in Suwanee?

Radio-Locator shows it on the tower behind the QuikTrip and Bojangles at the Old Ptree exit. I thought it had been on something over near St. Monica's, off Buford Highway near South Scales Road.

The Suwanee translator for TOSOTR (W228CA) was on the tower you mention at the corner of Sugarloaf and North Brown Road, behind the hotels. But it's at 93.5. It's not been carrying TOSOTR for a while, although it still appears in the TOSOTR TOH station ID. I want to say it was carrying WSB for a while, as well as dead air. Radio-Locator shows it on the Chateau Elan tower now, with The NEW 97.1 The River.

The Duluth translator for TOSOTR (W249CK, 97.7) is on the Chateau Elan tower and is highly directional.
