It is with great sadness that I was notified that Chris Kelly died yesterday of a heart attack. Chris was only 49 years old a nd leaves behind a wonderful family. Chris was a senior account executive at WAPE and will be missed by everybody who wver worked with him.

Truly a shock and, more than that, a shame - Chris was a great guy and will be missed by all who knew him. My love to his family and friends - keep them in your prayers, folks. He was one of "the good ones".Brian V.

Did he ever work up in north AL? I can remember back in the early 90s 106 TAK had a Chris Kelly. Wondering if it's the same guy.

No Chris never worked in northern Alabama. He worked on the air at WAPE in 1975, then left and worked on air in Houston then came back to Jacksonville after a year or two and got into radio sales where he hit the ground running and became one of the most successful and well liked account executives you'd ever want to know. What a shock for us all who loved him.

Sorry to be so late replying, and an irrelevant reply at that, but BamaWOLF, I know who you're talking about. THAT Chris Kelly had a recurring feature in the early 90's on WAAY Too Early called "Short Stories." I have footage of him in a pro wrestling match, followed the next week with "mobile mud wrestling" in a pickup truck bed. Chris battled one of my good friends (now a Jacksonville broadcasting AE who shall remain nameless) in the most hilarious radio/TV stunt of all time.
