"WAR OF THE WORLDS" THIS SUNDAY NIGHT ON 1360

I edited down the original 53-min broadcast from EXACTLY 70 years ago this week and will play most of it on Sunday evening's "Hi-Fi Club" (barring any technical mishaps, of course.) 1360's going to already be on low power during the show starting this Sunday (with the time change and November adjustments) so use the streaming link at www.thehificlub.net. The show's on 6-7PM, and we'll play the WOTW segment around 6:30.

I have a CD copy of that, man it is interesting. And frightening almost.

Orson Wells sure has an interesting sense of humor.
 
I'm running the Holland Cooke 1974 WPRO version now on my part 15 AM, and will probably run it again later this evening.

Due to my high density neighorhood, thousands can hear my signal even within 2-3 blocks radius of coverage.

Now I gotta find my copy of the Shaggs "Philosophy of the World" to play "It's Halloween".
 
I also have a Part 15 SSTran transmitter that I use for listening to old time radio broadcasts from the Ipod. War Of The Worlds is the greatest practical joke ever, I like to play it on Halloween. I was hooked when my 6th grade teacher told us the story about the panic & then played the tape for us. Orson Welles had such a cool voice. It and other shows (Spike Jones, Ozzie & Harriet, Lum & Abner) sound really good on the old 1936 RCA console. Found a bunch over at rusc.com.

I'll try to tune it in on Sunday just for the sheer fun of it, thanks for the heads-up. Shut off the TV, dim the room lights some, to let the orange dial & the green tuning eye glow while that big sound fills the room.
