WARR 1520 Warrenton

I’m picking up this daytimer on a MD-based SDR radio at 6:55pm local time, which ought to be well past their critical-hours allocation operation. They’re a daytimer. Giving a lot of trouble for Buffalo, NY’s co-channel WWKB.
Is this a regular feature for WARR? Or an anomaly?
As Bugs Bunny once said, “Of course you realize, this means war!!” Actually, he said it many times.

IMHO: This AM's only likely reason for existing now is to "feed" a FM translator. I seriously doubt they are making any additional revenue from the AM staying on at night. Most likely no one at the station ever listens except to make sure it is on to satisfy the FCC.

A polite email or phone call should take care of this and save the station money on it's electricity bill

Using the 25 mile rule, I am surprised they don't down grade to 1KW or less

I agree about sending a polite email. I did just that last night. I didn’t get a reply, and wasn’t really expecting one. But I believe the message was received. Tonight, 1520‘s sole occupant around here is WWKB, as it should be.
You’re correct that they do have a translator, 250 watt W278DC, which went on the air 3 years ago.

I remember the same thing happening in Myrtle Beach when WKZQ got left on after dark. Sounded good.

I don't remember whether it was merely simulcasting WKZQ-FM. But at some point the decision was made to move the station to 1450 so it could stay on all the time.
