Warren Brothers on WSIX

I just caught about 30 to 45 seconds of the Warren Brothers on WSIX this afternoon. They were taking calls from across the country on the difference between country boys, cowboys and rednecks. After the segment, there was a produced imaging piece saying "The Warren Brothers on the Big 98". What's this about? It felt like syndicated content with no mention of the station except going into the song. Interesting!

My guess ( and its just a guess) is that now that PPM is around the "talent" doesnt have to say the station name...this gives them more time to talk....I have heard several live local jocks doing this..again just my guess.

What I'm wondering is A- is Clear Channel using the Warren Brothers on other stations? B- Is this a trial run on WSIX?

Apparently, CC has realigned Nashville from a major market to a regional market. (CC bases this on revenue, not market size.) Let's call it now, shall we...new rounds of cost-cutting at 55 Music Square West.

I heard that same phone call bit, too. I thought the national callers were stream listeners. Maybe not. A few years ago 105.9 had a guy on at night that I knew was some sort of a syndicated/network feed show. And who are the Warren Brothers?

I had the same thought! I'm wondering if what we heard was an audition. Next question, is it something CC will try to use in other markets.

Some of you might not know this, but Big D and Bubba, who were on WSIX in the afternoons, were on several other stations in the mornings, from the same WSIX studio. They had a computer running a playlist for each station, sending the streams to the stations. A friend of mine near Cincinnati thought they were there in Cincy. They would VT bits just minutes before air and the producer would drop them in the right playlist. They had phone lines from each market so they could answer the phone as if they were there. I would love to have watched all that going on.

So you never know when or where the Warren Brothers will show up.

Big D & Bubba's morning show is syndicated through Premiere Radio, same as John Boy & Billy, After Midnight, Bob & Tom, etc. WSIX is their home base, but they VT in such a way that they sound completely local in each market.
