Warren G / Nate Dogg "Regulate" on KIIS-FM this morn (Tuesday)

What's the deal with KIIS playing this record in morning drive (7:50am)? I believe I have heard KIIS play other classic rap songs in mornings before. Is this is a reax to AMP playing songs like "Hypnotize" by Notrious B.I.G.?

I've noticed this since AMP signed on too. KIIS is all over "classic" hip hop songs like "Regulate", "Hypnotize", etc. that they NEVER touched in the 90s, even while some much smaller markets were spinning these tunes.

Its an obvious reaction to AMP's presence.

AMP had been playing "Regulate" since day 2. It's one of my favorite old school rap songs and obviously KIIS is trying to keep up with AMP. AMP isn't running on luck, AMP is now a product and it's a product that people are loving. And KIIS is fearing that one day, AMP will catch up to them tremendously.

KDAY and KIIS don't share their audiences like KIIS and KAMP do. Plus, its highly doubtful that KIIS sees KDAY as a threat.

Before KDAY, I used to switch back & forth between KIIS & AMP. Now, I listen to KDAY pretty much exclusively.

KIIS is obviously trying to play catch-up with AMP. This reminds me of the 80's when KIIS was in a mad scramble to try and stop the ascent of KPWR. Unfortunately for KIIS, it was a long miserable journey facing year after year of coming in as a second fiddle. I am amazed at how much damage AMP has already inflicted. I suspect with some final touches and fine tuning, KIIS is going to have alot of problems.

i think future numbers will show a partial siphoning from KIIS and AMP to KDAY. The real reason KDAY cant whole heartedly compete with either, is the weak signal strength

Some recent mainstream CHR safelists I've seen have both "Regulate" and "Hypnotize" on them.
