Actually, I would have programmed to people who care about the minimum wage. It should be $20 an hour, and there are a lot of people who agree. I would've changed it to Pelosi 94.7. 10th caller gets canned food.

A bigger audience awaits the smart programmer who puts together a station with a single focus on the Iraq War...oh, wait, never mind. That was called Air America.

How about Single Payer 94.7, for those who are passionate about health care? Winner!

The only way The Globe can get past a 1 share is have Al Gore voicetrack mornings.

I'M listening to David Bowie's Major Tom off the streaming---I'm glad DC has AAA back (and with WAMU public radio HD2's streaming of 103.1 from Annapolis will be a nice 'double shot' of progressive rock programming) I'm from Los Angeles, and miss the late-great KSCA _____________THIS MUCH_____________________ Please CBS - you might have a winner here with The Globe in L.A. Flip that FREEfm KLSX as they're quite frankly a DEAD stick/ & Please, No more Jack - Peace JG ;)

One small correction...WAMU's HD2 stream features programming from WTMD 89.7 and NOT WRNR 103.1 (A great station - tried to pick it up last time I was in D.C.-very snowy) :eek: FYI. Peace

Why don't you go back to the talk radio forum and hang out with the Rush & Hannity kool aid drinkers.
 
I like the concept so far. But with the talented and musically knowledgeable DJs on 94.7, will CBS take the next step and give them some playlist freedom?
 
I agree that the DJ's need to be knowledgeable, but, what would playlist freedom for DJ's accomplish?
 
Some of their current airstaff have a history in progressive radio. A few DJ selections mixed in would add some spice to the format and make it an even more interesting listen.
 
I agree that the format is a breath of fresh air. An obvious smart move.

The execution, IMHO is not perfect. I heard a lot of Led Zepplin/Doors/Van Morrison stuff, which made me wonder sometimes how "different" they are.

The "green" conceit seems to come off very gimmicky and staged. If I were calling the shots, I would kill that off pretty quick because it seems very artificial.

Very promising.
 
I'm stil confused .... how can a radio station be NON eco-friendly? I mean we don't have smokestacks! None of us can afford SUVs....
 
Henry, I'm guessing you're being sarcastic, and you're certainly welcome to it.

Surely you realize The Globe is simply making positive environmental awareness a component of their programming and the station's personality. Good angle and good idea if done in a fun, relatable way along with the right music, plus it's another good way to position themselves as being different from other stations in the market. Kudos to CBS, as other folks on the board have mentioned, it's one of the best ideas/format gimmicks they've cooked up in a long while.

I'm guessing the station won't have Hummers for their station vehicle either, but we'll wait and see.
