Was 2005 a dud?

This year started off with predictions that the Philly radio landscape would see the biggest changes since 1993. That a domino effect would take place. It looked to be true at first, with Y100 going, and Ben-FM, but since then we only had 2 major changes, with 950 going sports, and 94.1. Nothing really shocked Philly radio. Maybe Ben-fm was the closest with preventing wogl from going jack-fm.

Still Almost everystation 93.3, 94.1, 95.7, 96.5, 98.1, (Power99?), 100.3, 102.1, 102.9, 104.5, 105.3, 106.1, 950 (did I miss any?) had the possiblity of flipping. While some of this did indeed happen, nothing shocking to Philly radio (except maybe y100, but only to radio fans) happened.

So do you consider this past year a dud in the way it was expected to see the biggest changes since 93? If yes, what do you think happened? Were we just morons for thinking this back at the start of 2005? Also do you think the landscape will change much in 2006, or will end up like this year with a few changes?

Is is possible to refresh our memory's about what happened in 1993?

The demise of Eagle 106, the conversion from Kiss 100 to Z100 then Y100 (Hot AC version rather than modern rock version), The birth of WJJZ to name a few. IS that the year DeBella left WMMR as well?

The only truth I can add to this is, if BEN did not materialize, you would be hearing Aerosmith, Zepplin, and Floyd on Jack 98.1. Its kinda funny how GM's 95.7 frequency stopped two fluke formats from coming into Philly, Jammin' Oldies and Jack.

I believe EZ101 became B101 a few weeks after the above mentioned. Does anyone remeber what was going on @ 102.9 then?? 70s or Clasic Hits?

I believe they were 70's. MGK din't start phasing in Classic Hits until early '94. <P ID="signature">______________
