Was Former AM 700 Owner A "Prankster"?

In reading the Wikipedia article on WLW/Cincinnati, there is a section under the header, "WLW clones". It refers to AM 700, which is now KALL. It reads: "In 1997, WLW owner Jacor purchased 700 KFAM in Salt Lake City. As a joke, they changed the call letters to KWLW and even began to air programming such as The Truckin' Bozo on the station..."

This is basically typical Wikipedia language. How do we know if the owner did this "as a joke"? Wouldn't "as a tribute" be more efficient?

Nurse Jeff and I recall picking up KWLW 7~Hundred here in the Phoenix area a number of years ago. They were playing country music, but we never heard the Trucking Bozo. The signal strength was awesome...even at 7 in the morning. Then that waste of frequency KMIA 7~Ten (Black Canyon City, AZ) came on and ruined our fun. That Randy Michaels is one jokester - although we don't think he's laughing too much anymore working for Sam Zell!
