Was Hendrie on 550 or 620 AM?

At several stations where I was the GM, we had a morning show character that I voiced would be the "gringo" who made stupid mistakes trying to speak Spanish and saying things that were often "dirty" words.
The Young Gringo then. The Old Gringo now. Always entertaining and one of the most popular lecturers at the Buckeye Media Hut*.

Oh ok, I thought you might have written/developed what you were going to say.
No, what we worked on was mostly cases where a word in English did not translate similarly to Spanish, so a "gringo" doing so might say things that were just wrong. Example: "excuse" in English is not "excusado" in Spanish. An "excusado" is a toilet, so doing a bad translation of that leads into all kinds of potty jokes.

It actually takes a totally bilingual person to recognize the joke opportunities. But like puns, a little goes a very long way. So we'd do that perhaps once a week or maybe twice with a bit of prep during a stopset. The funniest one I recall was "calling the manager because the air conditioning in the studio was not cooling well" and having him say he would call someone to come and piss on the ceiling.

And according to my invoice, which will be going up again this year. Get him while he lasts!
