Was I wrong about WKTI?

Ok, I am going to need some replies on this one.

I thought that WKTI had a good thing going (against WMYX) before they turned to the Lake. I didn't see room for a Jack type format here in Milwaukee with the choices we seemed to have for that type of thing. Some of the music they play can easily be found elsewhere on the dial here.

Now that WKTI as we knew it is gone, WMYX seems to be leaning more towards KISS FM's music at times and they've added Ryan in the afternoon. Add Ryan and keep Delilah? Don't you think that WMYX would keep a good thing going and not change too much with KTI out of the picture?

Help me out here someone!

Maybe they feel they need to "evolve" to a more current sound with the abundance of "old" stuff currently on the FM dial. Or, by being less "urban" than 103.7, they may pick up some of Kiss' more "mainstream" crowd.

Just some thoughts.

I would have thought if anyone was adjusting music, it would be WQBW since they seem to be going nowhere.

I hadn't thought about their evolving and the need there might be for new music that doesn't have an urban sound that I hear on KISS at times. I still don't think they need Seacrest. Live and local people!

Seems like KISS could really put their hands in each pot by being a bit urban and a bit like WMYX while sticking some of the older tunes on during the day (which I've noticed). They still do an amazing job with a format that is often carbon copied.

I'd say we are inundated with a lot of rock and soft rock here in the Milwaukee area. I still don't see LAKE going anywhere fast. Maybe it's because I don't care for that format. I don't know.

One last thing...MILWAUKEE NEEDS A CLASSICAL STATION. What does that say about the city? Wow.

The early ratings look good for LAKE. But that's the easy part. The challenge will be to maintain the audience as the newness wears off.

It's all about stock price. That's all. Check out today's price for JRN.

Once upon a time, it was great to have a newspaper in your domain,
for cross-promotion, self-promotion...but today, having a newspaper
in your group, is like hanging an anchor around your neck...and throwing
your radio guys off the bridge!

Somebody I know is considering buying a lot of JRN stock because they think the price is too low. That would be a gamble. The future of newspapers is grim, some would say the same thing about radio.
