Was Mix 98-5 The First "Hot AC" Format?

This debate kinda goes on, however it seems as if WPLJ in New York gets the credit, even though they were not really Hot AC until the Fall of that year. I was reading Wikipedia and they mentioned some station in Houston doing similar programming around the same time.

As far as I am concerned, Greg Strassell and WBMX invented the format, but they do not seem to get much credit for it at all though.

I thought Mix 96.5 Houston and/or Mix 105.1 in Orlando came before 98.5. There may have been others also, not using the Mix name.

OK, I did a search for Hot AC on Oh, Wikipedia, and according to them, a station in Baltimore back in 1986 was the first station to program the Hot AC format. Oh well, WBMX seems to be credited with something though, albeit overshadowed by WPLJ.
