Was Stern ever a factor in San Diego?

Hi all. I am asking this question because I legitimately don't know. The article in the UT this morning that breaks down the top stations and morning shows doesn't even mention Stern's program as being one of the top shows. I imagine that the ratings to which the article refers would have been measured during the time that Stern was still on 103.7, but his show apparently didn't even crack the top 5. So that is why I am asking the experts here, was Stern's show ever a real factor in San Diego and, if it wasn't, then why would any station adjust its current morning show to compensate for the lack of a show that wasn't a factor in the first place?

Stern's show was syndicated fron NYC. Generally the morning drive on the radio in ratings had been a race between Howard Stern, DSC, and Jeff and Jer. Stern was a very big force or else he wouldn't have attracted so many local advertizers, but he also attracted controversy and was forced to tone down his act by groups that took offense. After the FCC started forcing Stern to water down his show, it lost some of it's mojo during the final two years or so.

One only needs look at KPLN's ratings before and after Stern, for proof that he made an impact, but I'm afraid I don't have them on hand, and I wouldn't be able to quote them if I did. But recall KPLN's ratings (well, the general cumes anyway) shooting up. So yes, he had an impact. Relevent? Not sure. I recall that he was one of the top rated morning shows in Lubbock, with Jeff and Jer and DSC.

I'm not sure about his time on 91X, or Rock 105. I don't think he really fit in on either of those stations, but that's just me.

I'm not sure what demos the article shared but Stern was a consistent performer 25-54. His ratings across the board were good in the last book, with a huge spike in December..apparently a lot of people tuned in for his final shows! So with his former listeners being 25-54 and more male than female, theoretically DSC have the most to gain by his absence followed by The Mikey SHow and (possibly) Adam Corolla with the rest of the pie sprinkled across the market. Of course, theory is one thing, we'll see how it plays out in reality.
