Washington DC June 2012 Ratings

The June PPM's were actually published yesterday and your new Number 1 is... no, not WTOP, and certainly not WNEW-FM, but WIHT/Hot 99.5!

So far we do not know anything about the WNEW ratings in either DC or Baltimore. I wonder why CBS is not subscribing to Arbitron for WNEW?

What I find amusing is how WPGC has jumped 1 whole share in the past 2 months to #8 overall. However, the music is basically the same aside from now they are back on the rhythmic panel, but still heavily urban-leaning overall.

How much revenue must be raked in in able for WNEW-FM to appear in the ratings. I know WTOP rakes the most revenue in the DC market.

Another funny thing about the WPGC situation is that if you look at the Twitter mentions for the station(which mean ZERO THEY ARE JUST FUNNY IMO) SOME in the DMV are freaking out calling the station Hot 995 number two and they need too stop with the pop music etc. Looking at the ratings they are doing the right thing with the format.

As I understand it, CBS has a national contract with Arbitron. Since WNEW signed on after the latest renewal of the contract was signed, WNEW has to be added to the contract. So far, CBS has chosen not to add WNEW. Also, we do not even know if WNEW's audio is coded to activate the PPM devices. The assumption is WNEW is encoding, but nobody knows for sure.... at least nobody has talked about it on this board.

LOL@ that

I think the only thing WPGC needs to add is a little more contemporary R&B while maintaining this current mix of mostly urban music with pop mixed in. Actually, WPGC is back to dayparting which is great, and they are also spinning more old school slow jams during "The Koolout". They might need to get Sunni to mix in a few more R&B songs in her timeslot to shut up those going 'ham on Twitter about the pop songs. It wouldn't totally silent nor fully satisfy those Twitter whiners, but it might give them some solace that WPGC still cares about their musical tastes while taking on bigger fish like Hot 99.5 in the grand scheme of things.

I agree with you some people are just going too cry no matter what. America is about being negative and whining.
