Washington Post sale...TV impact?

Surprised there hasn't been any chatter yet about the Washington Post Company selling the newspapers, and what this might mean for the Post-Newsweek broadcast group. Seems ripe for the picking, perhaps Tribune is interested?

The impact will be that Post Newsweek will (1) be getting a new name since they own neither of those assets and (2) the renamed entity will have both more capital and be more focused on the television stations.

They'll likely seek to expand through acquisitions or form a merger of sorts.

Moot point now. The Post was sold to the owner of Amazon.com

So far, no indication that any TV stations are part of the deal

Cheers & 73 ;D

Ummm, that's the point of this thread. What the entity that is The Washington Post Company will do with the stations (keep them, but change in other ways) as a result of divesting the newspaper business.

The TV station cluster will simply become a whole new company under a whole new name. Period. Could some of them be sold off? Maybe but doubtful.....

Cheers & 73 ;D
