Wasted 50KW AM signals

Maybe one of you guys can help me with this.

Several times now I have been in the middle of posting a brilliant, poignant-not to mention pithy- missive exhibiting my vast insights into why my opinions regarding everything radio may matter to someone........when the post just disappears into the ethernet.

The screen jumps a bit and.......everything is gone.

Rather than try over, I just give up; so my gems go unread.

I read tomb length postings (I'm looking in your direction Pastrick), so someone out there is not having this problem.

What am I doing wrong.

And Happy New Year to you, my friend!

For four hours every day, I do my act over songs with 16 second intros, then go into a production studio and do commercials that are (supposed to be) :29.5 and :59.5. Whataya expect when the forum is wide open? When I get some room, I run with it.

OK, I'll try to keep this short. The up-down shifting sometimes occurs even when I read or post as well. It's maddening. Happens at home and at work, so it ain't my computer.

You can first compose your pearl-like gems in Word or Notepad (spell-checking and all that), then copy-paste into this space.

You can notify the mods. Apparently Bill Myers has been having this problem as well. He's a computer kinda guy, so if he could fix it on his end, he would.

I've read on other techie-boards that the shifting is caused by banner advertising and placement, and therefore it's a "board problem."

Mods?

Never ask this question in radio.

Happy New Year Al:

I have the same problem when I view this site from work (screen moving up and down) but when I am at home everything is fine.

My work computer is on DSL while I have Road Runner at home. Maybe that's one reason I don't have the "jumping screen" problem at home, I do not know.

Bud Lowell said to say hello. I checked in with him last week and he's feeling much better now.

Have a nice 2008.

Let me clarify the "screen jumping" problem. Only a small number of users actually encounter it. It's less than 1%.

Unlike most sites, we run dynamic headlines. This means they constantly change. Headlines run the gamut between long and short as the story dictates. As headlines change, they appear to jump as they expand and retract. For the most part, only userswith lower resolutions face this problem. We've found that this issue is easily corrected simply by increasing the native resolution of your display and/or decrease the size of the font. Also make sure your window completely fills the screen. I access the site from four different computers of varying age and configuration. The only way I can duplicate this problem is to shrink the size of my window or run a low resolution on my display.

Technically this could be fixed on our end. However it isn't cost effective to reprogram a site for a problem that affects so few people. I think we do a pretty good job of getting the site to run on as many operating systems, computer configurations and browsers as possible.

The fact remains that this is an easily corrected problem from a user standpoint. While banner ads are annoying for some, the reality is that no one has to pay for the privilege. They enable us to offer access to the boards, news gathering and Tom Taylor's newsletter for free. Most sites that offer this quality of service only do so through paid subscription.
