Watch out for MEE

It's Mohave County no more, look out for ME as Weigel has received approval from KMEE(FM) in Palm Desert CA (most helpfully, a MeTV FM station) to take on the KMEE-TV and KMEE-LD call signs in Arizona effective September 29. https://enterpriseefiling.fcc.gov/d...&id=25076ff399118e35019929e37b210980&goBack=N

That 9/29 date may be the date that Weigel begins broadcasting MeTV itself, at least in Phoenix. Until now, KAZT has held the affiliation. But Nexstar this fall has dropped or is dropping MeTV in Salt Lake City, Mobile, and Augusta. (And for the curious, Tegna stations carry it in Indianapolis, Memphis, Beaumont, Corpus Christi, Tyler, and Norfolk)

MeTV moving to Channel 40 from Channel 7 would only happen if Weigel and KAZT (Londen) agree to end their contract, which was extended through February 2028 back in 2023, early. I'm not sure if Nexstar has a say in that or not.

EDIT: Although that's not to say it's not possible, with the addition of WEST on 40.5, it does seem Weigel is leaving 40.4 Channel slot open for some reason. I originally thought this was because 40.4 is the hidden KMOH MeTV feed for DirecTV and Dish Network, but looking back at when I accidentally recorded KMOH MeTV feed off KEJR on my ADTH NextGenTV Box earlier this year, it's not assigned to any Channel number. So maybe they are keeping 40.4 Open to move MeTV+ to in order to place MeTV on 40.1. Guess we will find out later this month.
