Watch out! Pensacola's 107.3 is now...

..and how long has ABB been AC? Since I remember.. how long has 100.7 been AC??? My point.

Now, let's take a look at the competition:

92.1 (Mobile and Destin)
96.5 (their signal does cover Pensacola)
97.5
103.1 (despite they seem to be at flea power.. not sure if that covers pensacola)
and 107.3 seems this area still has plenty of CHR stations to pick - n - choose and, I'm sure west pens. and mobile probably have a few Mississippi stations that cross the border.

92.1 Is a Fort Walton/ Destin radio station PERIOD. It's signal barely reaches the eastern half of Pensacola. Z96 does cover P'cola, but it's definitely a Fort Walton station. 103.1 is a full power class c 50kw station. But because of the positioning of their tower, it covers more east towards Panama city . Highway 98's processing sounds pretty sharp to me. I didn't notice the mono problem you were having. Of course I don't listen to that station that much.

92.1 in Fairhope/Mobile (WZEW, 92-Zew) is nothing at all like Fly 92.1 in Destin. 92-Zew does NOT compete with WABB. It competes with TK101 and the Rocket a little, otherwise it's the only AAA station on the Gulf Coast and has no AOR station in the market to compete with.

92.1 and 103.1 are gibberish in Pensacola. No way to listen to either station without a fine directional antenna.

Mississippi radio stations can barely be heard on the eastern shore of Mobile Bay. They have no regular coverage in Florida.

And since we've mentioned it many many times, I'll post it again. Hale has noting at all to do with Highway 98 Country! Blame that mess on Qantum. The only beef you have with Hale is his 94.5 translator.

No, my posts are more like a Dallas station coming in and airing musica (sp?) to your ears. I thought 98.1 was Hales.. whatever, Quantum needs to get their act together.

... and hopefully mine just remind you of a cloud of chalkboard eraser dust overtaking you...

NOW has already adjusted and is more mainstream. The rhythmic thing wasn't working. They were behind both WABB and WJLQ. Now that there's one less CHR they might pick up a share-share and a half. If you go by the latest PNS ratings, the battle to be the leading CHR only gets you 7th overall. Heck, when i100 went off, they were only a share behind WABB. Problem is, there wasn't enough money to go around for 3 CHRs. There might not be enough for two, to be honest. NOW isn't going to when the battle if aggressive changes aren't made.

Uh, according to YES.com - I don't see anything mainstream. They don't have a lot of variety, really. No Mainstream whatsoever

Yes, they are. Just because you don't see any Coldplay, doesn't mean they're not mainstream. WABB tries to skew in the older demos. Now is going for a more upbeat approach. There isn't a set definite playlist for one to be considered mainstream. It's more of a general area. WABB is more towards one side, NOW more towards the other.

I thought WABB would be targeting women 18-35 ish.. (by the music) and 98.3 would be targeting the older crowd. If WDLT got a bigger stick, they would dominate here in ft walton and prob be #1.

I listen to it sometimes when I can... my posts are more like peggy doing the phone transfer trying to reach the supervisor (discover card ad)

I thought his posts would be like drinking pepsi on a warm day.

I don't know what Pepsi tastes like... I'm from Dixie.

(yes, I have had a Pepsi before, but it's been like 15-20 years. I really don't remember what that shit tasted like)

Pepsi is good diet pepsi - not so good.

Let's see how long NOW lasts.. place your bets all!

NOW does not have a chance. there playlist is weak and they sound sound that professional... they should just have gone full chr like the one in tallahassee did... and have a mix show.. if they really care to get listeners from wabb

What happened to Clear Channels' "Kiss" top-40 stations? Didn't they all have about the same playlist? CC should just throw up a cookie cutter satellite fed CHR-Top40 on 107.3 and see what happens. If it starts working, then get some local input.

Let's take a gamble at how long NOW will last..

I give it till Christmas, all yule music than who knows what the new format will be. I agree the format now SUCKS and, this would be the perfect spot for WCOA-FM their analog signal can still be heard in ft walton despite the power drop & antenna change. If they applied for a 96KW license, their signal would be strong in the beaches of S.Walton and would probably be the top 5. Look at how well talk radio is doing in other FL markets. It's our turn now.

Please note I know about the AM talk stations however, at night, we have no strong signals.

Notice how much chatter WJLQ "Journey 100.7" is getting on these boards. That speaks volumes. Clear Channel has always stuck with a format for a least a year around here... unless something falls in their lap, I don't expect 107.3 to flip for at least 15 months.

Again, I repeat - NOW (unless they shape up) will last not that long. Maybe yule tunes and the return of Classic Hits. Tom Kent, we miss you,
