Bill's good guy. I believe Delahunt was in the National Guard. It you want to get technical that does not make you a veteran believe it or not. You spend 6 years or more under the threat of being activated for anything from a war to a postal strike as happened in New York around 1966-67 and still you are not considered a veteran.
He is probably just old enough not to have been cannon fodder for the last fiasco we had called the Vietnam War. Unfortunately 58,000 others died for nothing thanks to the evil likes of Ike, JFK, LBJ and Tricky Dick. This current war only took one evil fool to start !

Muffy's platform, as explained on her web site, would necessitate just as much of a tax increase as Deval's would.

what proof do you have that mitt, swifty, celuc and pink floyd never hired a hack or never raised any taxes/fees? mitt actually raised(doubled or tripled) every 'fee'(tax) known to man when he first took the office in '03. even your buddy howie came after him then. mitt also cut city/town aid to the bone which put hurt on many school districts across the state and sent property taxes thru the roof.

Taxes? Muffy Dilletante's proposals will necessitate raising taxes. No way around it.
Hacks? Most of the state workers that were on the payroll in the Swift administration are still there, and were holdovers from the Celucci administration...who were holdovers from the Weld administration....who were holdovers from the Dukakis administration...etc., etc. Don't tell me she's going to fire every single one of them, when in fact, she can't...most are protected by civil service laws. We'll start talking about getting rid of "hacks" when the legislature reforms civil service...or, when pigs fly, whichever comes first.
Tolls? They'll stay. Her ploy about getting rid of them was so transparent it resembled a piece of glass. She proposes BEFORE the election to get rid of them, but says the final vote can't be taken until AFTER the election while the Turnpike Authority "studies" the situation. Please. Give us credit for at least SOME common sense.
Dukakis? Irrelevant.

true, true...racoon is acting like a scared child....shows how much infleunce howie carr's entertainment experience has on the masses.
 
Having grown up barely 5 miles from the US Coast Guard Academy, lemme tell ya...I don't give a crap what the technical designation of "veteran" is. Those USCG folks are veterans as far as I'm concerned. Not that military service is ever a cakewalk, but let's put it this way: the rest of the military might only be at war once a generation...the Coast Guard crews have to face near-certain death several times each year, EVERY year, when inevitably some group of idiots think they know more about seafaring than they really do (that includes seasoned pros with good equipment who forget that when it's you vs. the sea...the sea ALWAYS wins). That ocean gets mighty nasty, too...at least in the army you might be able to shoot back at what's trying to kill you. Guns aren't much help against nor'easters.

Now I dunno if Delahunt is USCG or not. But if he is, he's a veteran in my book.
