WATD :)

So a radio fan friend of mine is in town from Akron and we're out for a drive; we happened to be near Marshfield and I told him, "Hey, I've never seen WATD before (neither had he of course),
let's stop in and see what they look like". So we did, and I was impressed by the big building with
lots of studios, memorabilia, and people like owner Ed Perry, local music show host John Shea, etc.
Ed gave us a tour that was fun and informative. I had heard that he's a great guy, and I could tell
others were right about him...and the station. Let's hear it for a unique voice for the South Shore
and beyond (yup we get 'em in fine on the North Shore too), which struggled to get on the air,
worked hard, and stays dedicated.

>>But we realized then that our choice of a site beside the landfill was probably the only thing which favored our permit. And after a victory party where more than a few libations were lifted, we asked the FCC for the call letters WATD…”We’re at the Dump!”WATD is a full service regional radio station, the way some of the old line Boston stations used to be...All of our announcers are “Boston Quality” and our music is oriented toward an adult audience. My wife, Carol, and I work at the station full-time. It’s a family operation. It’s not for sale. And it’s staffed by some of the best people in the business. And, even after 30 years, we’re still having fun.

I've known Ed since I was 21 and did Mornings for him at WCIB Falmouth on the Cape
He Owed part of that Station...Worked at WATD at Least 3 Times....No One in my Life has been
as Kind and Helpfull to me as Ed...I'm Still the Station Voice of WATD and have been for Many Years(He easily Could find Someone
to replace me)
Its RADIO Done the WAY it should be..Other Stations and Radio Companies should Study to learn
HOW you do it RIGHT!! When I worked at WHDH in the 70S This was the Norm..RADIO SERVED
its Community and entertained....And Informed..ONLY WATD still Does it that Way

"Radio" would not be in trouble, if most of the owners were like Ed Perry.

Right you are, Bob! There are some of us out there today who still love radio for the sake of it. Both Ed and Bob are two the best people to own radio stations. They enjoy what they do! And if they happen to make a dime from it, so much the better! Salud! :)
