WATERCOLORS WATERING DOWN?

I've been hearing it and I think it's great. I miss "Beyond Jazz" though. I couldn't help but notice the playful chatting in George Benson's "Nothin' But A Party" (when he introduces Norman Brown) from his new release doesn't appear in Watercolors' airplay of the tune. Something I would expect on a SJ station. Is that song a single or are they using a SJ edit from the label? I bought it so I only have the CD version. I just hope they're not trying to be too safe. Some of the grooves I had been hearing on the channel aren't on as much. They're still very instrumental and are playing good stuff, but are sounding very smooth lately. Prior to January they got my attention on a few songs per hour, but that hasn't been happening lately. Just wondering. I've had a few terrestrial SJ moments listening to them.

Watercolors has been moving toward safer ever since the merge, actually even before when compared to their startup sound. They haven't moved into the dreaded cover/pop vocal heavy Smooth A/C territory yet though. Too much interesting stuff on internet radio to spend much time with them unless you like super-mellow and singles-driven. The Benson song they are playing is the "single" edit

I just gave the ipod a rest today and listened to Watercolors for the first time in quite some time. Honestly I think it is still a great channel. Heard a Ben Tankard track that no one else is playing. Heavenly Vibes from his latest release. Nice to hear from a local home boy from these parts. They may be playing it safe but still found it very enjoyable to listen to.

Nock

Watercolors sounds "softer" than they did a year ago, more conservative. I agree the change began before the merger.

Beyond Jazz was good and their PD was gr8. I guess that, as his other station, Audio Visions was not Spared in the merger, Russ Davis must be gone :( Just wanted to add that when XM began and I wanted to offer passengers (I drive a taxi) I would always go to those bright, sparkling sounds of Luna.
