WATL to take My branding

WATL has announced that it is taking the My branding as part of its affiliation with My Network TV. WATL will be known as "My ATL TV" starting September 1st.

No surprise there. But considering that this is a new network, I think a lot of people will be confused. They will hear the name, but have no idea what channel it is on, or that it is WATL Channel 36 (which is located at Channel 6 or 13 on most cable systems).

I hear the sounds of Clear TV (WGCL 2000-2002) ringing in the air.

Here in Dacula (Eastern Gwinett County) WATL is on channel 3 (Charter Cable)

The entire "My Network" seems to be a very boring and dull network. The network shows they're launching is a joke. I hope WATL can keep their audience with the syndicated lineup once WB is history. I also hope CW ATLANTA keeps their syndicated shows like Girlfriends, Parkers, South park, Living SIngle, etc.

I think the station owners want the affiliation more for the network branding than the current 2 scheduled hours of telenovelas; plus, the station owners probably expect that since its Fox owned, it may turn up some desirable programming later on - think American Idol's success for Fox stations.

As for WATL's syndicated lineup, I'd expect some shows from WXIA could crossover or run once on both stations, possibly including: Jeopardy!, Access Hollywood, Who Wants to be a Millionaire, and Dr.Phil.

Gannett could probably do without MyNetworkTV, if they ran Dr.Phil (at 8PM), with a local newscast at 9PM, but they bought the station with the affiliation deal in place.

As for WUPA, I wonder if CBS would consider adding the Entertainment Tonight / The Insider hour block, to the CW station in the market. Think of The CW as stronger than UPN, and CBS building up WUPA as an asset, with think of selling it or buying WGCL. Of course, that would leave Cox WSB without Entertainment Tonight, but CBS has the leverage to exercise a move, as Cox doesn't want The Insider on their stations (at a time near primetime), so King World has a valid reason to dump them in favor of the CBS owned CW. WSB still has Inside Edition.

No. I seems to me that keeping the My Network affiliation will prop up WXIA during NBC primetime. My Network TV is going to fail anyway.

WATL will air "American Idol Rewind" Saturdays at 6 PM this fall.

Possible. I would like to see the Simpsons crossover to WXIA for 7:30, and "Wheel" and "Jeopardy" go to WATL 7-8.

They may have to if My Network fails. Like I said, it will let them kill time.

I think WSB has a permanent deal for "ET" and "The Insider".

WSB does not want "The Insider" at 7 PM so that ABC News can be there, so they can do a full hour of news at 6.

Both shows are not distributed by King World, but by CBS Paramount Television (Both CBS entities).

"Inside Edition" is going back to WGCL in the fall.
