WATO Sold!!

I didn't realize that they were getting the translator in that deal. Or is Johnny Pirkle just letting them lease it? Johnny Pirkle is also brokering the rest of the Horne stations if anyone wants to buy them. WGAP in Maryville just went to Ron Meredith in Clinton and the rest of the AM's are on the market too.

I would think that they are just leasing the translator since Pirkle is reluctant to sell off any of his radio signals.

Oooops! Pardon me while I wipe the egg off my face. 101.1 is a very busy frequency in East Tennessee. Now I see the translator in Oak Ridge.

What else does Horn own that would be a money maker? Was hoping WATO would go with an oldies format but I guess you go where you think the money is.

If someone could wrestle 105.3 away from him and dedicate it as a Loudon County station (which it is) and not a Farragut station (which it barely reaches) you could have some success as that area is growing faster than a 'mater in the sun.

The last I heard the FM's are on the market. Unfortunately Horne thinks they are worth a war pension. The word I got was 1.5M for 105.3 and maybe that much for the Sweetwater Combo. If you want a sunrise to sunset stations with flea power psra and pssa WLOD @ 1140 can be had real cheap. I haven't heard a price for WMTY @ 670 in Farragut, but is a sunrise to sunset only stations.
