Heard them this afternoon here in south Shelby co. Signal was noticeably weaker and barely audible here...obviously broadcasting with reduced power. Anybody have any other info on it, and how the signal is fairing there in Jefferson county?
I heard them on the air last Monday. I also noticed a weaker signal, especially travelling south on 280 between 459 and Hwy 119. Beyond there, the signal starts dropping off fast.
WATV is using an emergency T-type antenna. They have two 20 feet tower sections spaced about 100 feet apart with a horizontal wire between them with insulators on each side and a wire connected in the center. The other end of the wire is going to an antenna tuner unit. I am told this is the type of antenna radio station used in the early days of radio.
