Waves Mercury Bundle...

I guess you never create anything worth copyrighting, huh? Not cool.

Hey Jeff... What's not cool is the $6000 Waves is asking for the bundlewhen your average production guy is making under $30,000.

Wake up...

Gee, Kent, I'm not making big bucks in this business either, but I don't steal software. Somebody worked really hard writing that code. What if somebody stiffed you for a spot you produced; would that be okay?

JJ

That's what I'm sayin Kent...when they start making the stuff affordable, I'll start buying it....three's just no way I can afford it. Some of the best ppl in the biz have cracked software...everybody I know that uses Waves, hasn't paid for it.

Happens all the time here... with no defence from the GM, the PD, no one stops it... And if you like, you can ask Dylan, or just about anyone else working at a radio station in North America, I'm sure it happens to them too. For the record, I always advise everyone, if you are going to download a cracked copy, try it, and then, if you're going to use it to make money. BUY IT!!! But IMHO, a 15 day partially functioning version is not good enough for $6k. Would you buy a car, if the lot owner only let you drive it 5 mph for 5 minutes in the lot? I doubt it.

Well sorry to say it sounds like "business as usual" at the radio station if you're being pimped-out for crosstown freebies.

JJ

You're right on both counts. It IS an expensive package, and it IS a little pricey for most radio people..and they SHOULD allow a fully functioning trial for 15 days..but they don't have to. Most everyone knows that the product is a winner. I have a version that I paid for in full trhough Sweetwater..which crushed me to no end when I found out that cracked versions of this program abound..but I can't in good faith make a living off this product and not expect to pay for it..and if I can't afford it, I don't steal it. Just like cars, and houses, and food.

But one of the reasons that WAVES charges so much is to offset the costs of people using cracked versions. I remember getting a copy of an old WAVES bundle about five years ago, and whoever "cracked" it added a few extra surprises after it ran for 90 days..wiped out ALL existing audio files on any drive it could find. Seriously damaged the SYSTEM files, and caused the network adapters to crash.

So if you find a cracked version, and your scruples don;t stop you..you may have an interesting "special file" or two included in the deal...so be careful
