WAVO Streaming

WAVO is streaming at www.1150wavo.com, it's even stereo!

This is just my opinion but I think they do a fine standards format. I wish satellite had something like this. It's much better than "High Standards" or "Seriously Sinatra".

I think they are excellent. I have listened to them alot during my lunch hours on the west side of charlotte. Great variety.. Wish they were on FM..

I heard Terry Setzer on the air this morning. He's calling himself something else but it has to be Terry. I'd recognize that smooth voice anywhere! It's nice to hear him on the radio again. He's a good guy, he was at WTDR while I was across the glass at Lite.

This is a great standards station, one of the best I've heard.

Thanks for the link.

You're welcome... Listening on the web is much better than trying to hear ths station. I keep thinking a non-directional 5,000 watt signal should come in miuch better than it does. It could have something to do with the area's horrible ground conductivity. Not much can be done about that.

True---I live about 7 miles from the transmitter and get gosh-awful reception during the day, nothing at night. I doubt they're really broadcasting with 5000 watts. Their transmitter site on Anderson Rd. in Rock Hill looks terrible. The tower looks like it could use a good coat of paint. I wouldn't want to stand anywhere close to it, for fear it would fall.....

Fortmill- you must be looking at the wrong tower. Wavo's tower is barely two years old, and is in no danger of falling. I routinely listen to 1150 as far North as Concord on I-85, until WRNA at 1140 starts to chew on it.

WEGO is airing the music now and it sounds GOOD. Even a big band instrumental. Even an easy listening instrumental I hadn't heard in years except as part of a sample online from Muzak's beautiful instrumentals format (no, not Environment; this one's even better).

Acording to the station ID, it's on the WOLS HD-3 channel too.

Too bad even WEGO gets a lot of interference even before I get out of the city after 5. Actually, it wasn't even 5.

WAVO

The music sounds great, but it is sad that WEGO has lost more of it's local identity. Not that the satellite feed gave it much of a local presence before. I still hear local spots and "1410" mentioned every now and then, but mostly just "1150 WAVO" which really doesn't mean anything to Concord listeners.

I was in Charlotte yesterday, and WAVO-WEGO sound great. And while the signal may have been helped by critical hours "skip", I was still picking up BOTH stations between Hickory and Morganton around 4:15pm. Maybe GHB can buy the bleeding WDYT and add it to the standards simulcast.

I agree that another signal near downtown Charlotte would complement the Standards simulcast very nicely. But I don't think 1220 brings much to the table. It's strong point seems to be from I-77 West toward the transmitter.

I'm not getting an HD signal on 106.1.

I have never picked up a HD signal on 106.1 either, so don't believe they have ever carried one.

Ken Conrad is now the afternoon host as well as the morning host. And each morning he plays a Dean Martin song, at which time you're supposed to call in to win.

The music is as good as ever. I do like having a DJ more of the time who says what is being played.

But I'll take the music over knowing what it is. After all, a DJ doesn't identify every song.
