WAVV General Manager Walt Tiburski Announces Retirement

Congrats to life after radio.

Walt Tiburski has announced he will exit his position as General Manager and Vice President of Sales for Alpline Broadcasting Soft AC 101.1 WAVV Naples Park FL and retire from the radio industry on April 30.

While Tiburski will consult for Alpine until mid-2022, the move caps a 50+ plus year career in daily management and station ownership for Tiburski. He began his career with stints at 1260 WIXY, 100.7 WMMS, and 99.5 WNCR Cleveland and 103.5 WSHE Fort Lauderdale. He returned to WMMS in 1973 and eventually rose to General Manager before exiting in 1984 to move into station ownership. He and Tony Ocepek founded Win Communications with the purchase of 104.1 WQAL Cleveland and would later expand into Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Peoria, Quad Cities and Tulsa before selling to ML Media in 1998. After leading ML Media until 1990, Tuburski consulted for multiple station groups in Cleveland before joining Clear Channel as General Manager for 1490 WERE/98.5 WNCX Cleveland from 1994-2005. He then joined Renda Broadcasting in Naples in 2005 before joining WAVV in 2007.
