WAY-FM expands in Bowling Green

WAY-FM has just turned on the class A signal at 88.1 to service the Bowling Green market. Previously WAY used a translator on 88.5 to servie the city of Bowling Green. It looks like it will be a direct simlucast of WAY's Nashville flagship station with no local touches outside a legal ID and a promo spot or two. WAY already serves Hopkinsville with a more local signal.

WAY-FM in Huntsville is pretty much a near-Xerox of WAY-FM in Nashville as well. Bowling Green is somewhat a part of the Nashville market anyway-they get Nasvhille TV stations, and some Nasvhille radio stations can be heard 40-50 miles north of Bowling Green (and in some cases, quite well!). It may be in the best interest of WAY-FM, though, if the Bowling Green station was more local, as WCVK is already in the market.

It will be interesting to see what becomes of the 88.5 frequency; perhaps WBLG-LP can move to that frequency with a signal closer to Bowling Green, WVCP or WTTU can upgrade, or WSGP can pick up a translator.<P ID="signature">______________

Translators are a secondary service to non-LP stations: WVCP and WTTU could have upgraded without regard to the Way translator.

I suspect any upgrades at WVCP would be very much limited by the two Way transmitters in Tennessee, the Clarksville one on 88.3 and the Franklin one on 88.7.

[size=10pt][size=10pt]WOW!....WAY-FM...continues to "spread its SIGNAL"....thruout the SOUTHEAST....thru legal tranlators....which originally were meant for smaller communities that couldnt recieve radio service....

AGAIN, the FCC has let an entity with too much money & too many lawyers to "TAKE ADVANTAGE of the rules.

thats too bad....seeing Congress gutted the LPFM bill preventing true needs in smaller communities from being served.

Good point.... Louisville was a trial for them with the more expensive commercial frequencies... If that is true... But, rich and too much? I used to work for them and prudent and wise were their steps and their open door shows it, again.. They do their best on non-com, but if they are in the selling market, they would have considered the cost... This is the first I've heard of it, and I don't snoop.... Very wise in their decisions and accountability... The best I worked for in both commercial and Christian radio..

Giving it a good old varsity try.. A HEADACHE at the moment.. Computers old, one pot fo the whole BSI Simian that I can't get to work right.. I-Tunes programmed at 5:30 in the morning and weekend flashback shows until we hit our targeted and researched format come January 4th........... The equipment was shipped FedEx Ground this past morning. Santa Claus is hooking us up with Fox Sports Radio and giving us plenty of local time for local shows, sports and such... Any of you know how to explain the Simian like driving a Ford or Toyota and not a Space Shuttle? Too long in live and live assist (Scott style) radio.... "Skipper T."

Who knows if they are or they are not..
