Way Media has merged with Hope Media Group
The Portland Way-FM is broadcasting in HD but last time I checked, is only using HD-1.I don't think Way FM is changing in terms of operations, though a handful of Way FM stations (Portland, DFW, Nashville and West Palm Beach) have reportedly begun transmitting in HD. The station in DFW (KAWA 89.7) is confirmed to be in HD now; the others I haven't been able to verify yet.
I'm assuming you're from the Portland area. Do you have a screenshot of KKWA 96.3 being received in HD? I'm curious to see what it 96.3 in Portland looks like in HD, plus I can add it to the HD Directory. The Portland Way-FM is broadcasting in HD but last time I checked, is only using HD-1.
In that I'm not particularly "tech savvy", I don't know how to do that. My wife has a smart phone but I don't. The only usable HD Radio I have is a portable.I'm assuming you're from the Portland area. Do you have a screenshot of KKWA 96.3 being received in HD? What I mean by screenshot is a picture (or a video) of your receiver picking up the HD on KKWA.In that I'm not particularly "tech savvy", I don't know how to do that. My wife has a smart phone but I don't. The only usable HD Radio I have is a portable.
I wouldn't rule out Way Media (now part of the merged Hope Media Group) adding HD subchannels to their stations, and I wouldn't rule them upgrading more of their full powered FMs to HD either. It would be nice if KAWA opened up an HD2 channel and resurrected Power FM. Some fans were hoping that Way Media would do that when they first acquired 89.7. Power FM now continues online rebranded as Way Loud. They did come back to the FM on the 104.5 rimshot signal in Portland as a filler format for a week after Way Media migrated their Way FM format to 96.3.
An update to my previous post: I checked again and they have added three extra channels, so it's HD1-4.The Portland Way-FM is broadcasting in HD but last time I checked, is only using HD-1.
I've seen them also, and was a little confused by it.I have seen NGEN Radio billboards around DFW. That's the first time I've seen billboards for an internet only station. NGEN Radio could be an option for an HD subchannel as well. However, it seems Hope Media would have kept it on the FM or HD2+ in some capacity back in Houston if they were to do that.
Billboards for NGEN have appeared in and around Houston recently. NGEN remains an online-only service; it has not been added on any HD subchannels of the two flagship HMG stations (KSBJ and KHVU) though we are now keeping an ear out for Way-FM to possibly pop up as a subchannel in Houston.I have seen NGEN Radio billboards around DFW. Anyone's guess at this point. But I don't think the merger took place just for behind-the-scenes efficiencies. I suspect grander plans are in place, especially with Hope Media Group building a 50,000 square foot production facility in Houston. So are both networks keeping their IDs or will they be merged?
I believe this may be the plan as well.I think a version of KSBJ might be taken national, along with Vida Unida, following the EMF model.
