Have any funeral or memorial service arrangements been announced?

boy, am i out of the loop on this one. anyone have any details on the nature of his death? just did a search of the sentinel on-line and came up with nothing more than the brief listing in the obituaries dated 6-12. was there a featured write up somewhere? i glanced at the sunday sentinel, but could have easily missed it. Wayne was a friendly guy, and there are many coloful stories about him from "back in the day" (70's-80's) from many of the o-town radio old-timers. i never heard him deny a single one! I always liked him, though i didn't know him real well, we served time together, under the same roof, but for different stations.

An item in today's Orlando Sentinel just says he died in his sleep.

My memories of Wayne are as follows:

I found him to be a great guy. We worked together in 1993 at 740 WWNZ, before I returned to New York. I called Jim Polling when I got to town (is he still there?) and asked him for a job. He said I do not have anything, but maybe in a week or so. Much to my surprise, he called back. At the start of the news format, Wayne did 6-10AM, Sheila Nardone did 10A-3M and Dave King 3-7Pm. Sports with Marc Daniels 7-10P and I believe a simulcast of WINZ Miami sports 10P-2A. Overnights was a simulcast of Magic 107.7 adult contemporary until sports arrived. Jim hired me to work a few overnights. So, what does bored baby-sitting board-op do for fun overnight? Every time a good oldie came on with a nice ramp, old Al would talk it up with a weather forecast, promo of Wayne at 6, etc. I remember distinctly one fine Friday morning- "These Eyes" by the Guess Who was starting. I did a quick weather over the intro and said something to the effect of "I remember playing this song in 1969 when it was a current record." Till this day I do not think anyone caught on to my "liberties," in management there, except Wayne. He comes strolling down the hall at the old studios on South Orange Blossom Trail before move to Maitland around 5:30 AM and says "I remember playing that song when it was a current record also!"

BTW, is Jim Polling still running anything there? He was in charge of the Florida News Network where I met some great people like Regan Smith and Larry ??? can't recall his last name- but they were so nice down there!

I was shocked to learn of his passing. He will be sorely missed.

Jim Poling (great guy!) is in charge of Florida's Radio Networks. They uplink the Florida Gators, the Orlando Magic and a ton of other stuff.

I worked with Wayne from 1986 to 1993 at WKIS/WWNZ. I didn't hear about his death until recently. Is there any more information about what happened? I was very sorry to hear the news.
