WAYV all up on that helium

Was in Atlantic City this past weekend adjusting my presets for AC radio, and when I programmed WAYV, they played "Somebody To Love" from Justin Bieber, and for a second, I thought they aired an Alvin and the Chipmunks cover. Does anyone else noticed the speed of AYV's broadcast? When Wild was on a commercial, I flipped again to see if it was just the song, but Leona Lewis, Taylor Swift, and Taio Cruz sounded like if their pitch was increased to a +4.0 or something.

I like hearing my top 40 stations pitched which is why I like, AYV, NOW in NY, BLI, Hot 995 and 100.5 It just sounds more upbeat to me.

Gary Fister does the same "pitch" on classic rock 100.7 WZXL... Word of warning; Rush "new world man" pitched could shatter your windshield and "wheel in the sky" makes your ears bleed. :p

certain songs sound good..others terrible..like Gaga Alej. sounds good like it makes the song come alive...then you hear Poker Face and it sounds too quick and strange...not to mention what it does to balads have you heard Miley C. The Climb on AYV...horrible...and ZXL?? I feel Rock should never ever be pitched up.

That's just horrible. I help DJ at a club in Connecticut and have experimented with the pitch control on the CD player while it's in CUE-Mode and it sounds god awful. The MAX we pitch up anything (if we do pitch up anything) is 0.3, which is not noticeable, but has the song ending a couple seconds early.

I've spun speeds at 2.0 for dance stuff and nobody has ever complained going back to 1976...I would not run ballads there but upbeat material sounds better.
