WAYV's 80'S LEGEND

I was surprised to hear about the 80's station WAYV's drop to a 5 share...but then realized it doesn't sound anything like it did back in the 80's. Of course the music on WAYV today is very different from the 1980's I remember hearing...and the personality is certainly lacking. They say you get what you pay for so asking 3 djs to hold down the fort each week seems to be stretching it too thin. Personally I would like to see BIG 80's all week with all the old dj's I remember: esp Spider McGuire and Glenn Stewart in the mornings...Donna Verden...Diane Prior...John Rizzo...Dawn Tyler...Johnny B...Roscoe and Russ Munroe...even the retiring Allison Wing and Jackson D. The dance shows...the Blue Plate...and House Parties were great. If they really want to go 80's they should go in this direction...they might get their ratings back. Besides Allison...does anybody know whats happened to the 80's crew? ::)

I'm not sure I think going with all 80s is a good idea. It'd be focusing on some records being played by SoJO and WFPG while ignoring all the rest of them. It'd create a total lack of variety, don't you think?

Although, to be sure, I have no idea what WAYV can do to crawl out of this hole they've created for themselves.

Spider McGuire - Mornings at WJRZ, Manahawkin
Glenn Stuart - out of radio
Donna Verden - aka Christie Springfield, formerly of WOGL & WPEN, Philly
Diane Prior - middays at WKTU, NYC
John Rizzo - recently production director of Access1 in AC, now "retired"
Dawn Tyler - out of radio as far as I know
Johnny B - was in radio in Miami, now out of the business
Russ Monroe - owns a production house in Flagstaff, AZ and Malibu, CA
Allison Wing - retired
Jackson T - afternoons at WTKU

Does a Jack-style Adult/Variety hits hold enough ground whereas a market like AC could support it?

If so, bring it to WAYV. Why not?

Donna "Christy" is now at WXTU 92.5 Philadelphia doing weekends and fill-in. I listened to her just this past Sunday. As great as ever. Also, that station has absolutely the finest sounding processing, including mics, in the region. Clean.

No, not at all. And all 80s would die in Atlantic City, too.

WAYV finds itself in a difficult position right now. On one side, you have The Buzz and their rhythmic CHR format. On the other, you have SoJo 104.9 with an aggressive Adult CHR format. WAYV is the stale station in the mix with a regular Hot AC format. Within 20 minutes this morning, I heard the B-52's "Love Shack" and Gnarls Barkley "Crazy"!
