WAYV's Big 80s weekend ...

I was at the Jersey Shore and caught this over the weekend. Actually, I noticed it a few weekends ago when I was down there as well. Is this an 'every weekend' type of thing ?? I actually enjoyed listening to it. Also, I noticed that during the one weekday that I was there (Friday) it was NOT on, but their lunch hour had a show that sounded like the weekend show.

I always used to listen to WAYV when I used to visit the shore when I was younger, but I haven't in quite some time because I didn't like what they were playing anymore. I also recall an ALL-80's station down there from last year, WXXY or something .. perhaps they are filling the void left by that station. But for WAYV to do it on a weekend when MOST people/vacationers would be there is kinda interesting - almost like they really don't care for their CURRENT everyday format !

Thoughts/opinions ?

Thanks !

I don't really think WXXY left a "void" since they only had
about 10 or 15 listeners. (No offense VK !)

When I was down there one weekend in February, I caught them doing a Big 80's weekend, and I loved that they even pulled out the old Turbo Z jingles! We were using those when I was there briefly in 1996. Kinda brought a tear to my eye :)

I kind of regret not dubbing off those jingles onto a tape, for my collection, before I left there.<P ID="signature">______________

I guess I'm #19.

I kinda like the days when Tommy Frank was running WAYV, they were mostly Modern/Alternative and played many early MTV rock cuts. Also, does anyone remember WGRF 99.3, in the early 80's, they ran a sort-of a Classic Rock format. I dunno if it was in-house or satellite but there were no jocks and they used the term full-dimentional stereo or digital something or other and had a great stereo sound.

I would swear this whole post was just to get a reaction out of me. LOL.

The Ted Baxter part was a good one. Is anyone still here from the days when that dork used to irritate the hell outta me for the sake of irritating the hell outta me?
