WAYZ'S Bob Steele gets the bum's rush

After five years of stellar ratings, looks like WAYZ's Bob Steele got dumped to afternoons, 3PM to 10PM to be exact. They replaced him with some chirpy wannabe kids. Sounds like Bob's a victim of agism. They probably didn't fire him outright because of that. Better get a lawyer, Bob.
 
Bob was off for 2 weeks. Tiny and Katy were filling in with no mention of Bob. Bob came back Monday and did PM drive. Yesterday.....no Bob! A part timer was doing that shift. Is Bob now gone? Tune in this afternoon at 3....and find out. Meanwhile listen to the Tiny and Katy show tomorrow morning to hear John Tesh like advice for your life. This morning we learned that it is very important to shower and wear clean underwear every day. I agree....get a lawyer, Bob.
 
Remember when young people in the business used to look up to the older pros? All I can say is "what comes around goes around". So remember kids....someday you'll be older and in the future the young newcomers will likely be even more ruthless. Then again this could be management's way of cutting expenses. Someone with 6 years under their belt would make quite a bit more than rookies with less than a year with the company. It's not right....but it's a sign of the times. Meanwhile....we can all look forward to Tuesdays, when Jennifer from the animal shelter pays a visit. That should be an out of control giggle fest!
 
Katy is not what I'd call a kid, I've worked with her for years, and she's qualified to do anything the "grown ups" do.
 
Bob Steele was on PM drive yesterday and sounded like he enjoyed it. He was very upbeat. Team shows should be on in the morning so I'm wondering if this has been in the works for awhile and if Bob himself was in on it all along. Nothing against Tiny and Katy...I just hate to see people who have been at this a long time get shoved to the side.
 
I have an inside source who tells me this was not Bob's idea and didn't go willingly. Perhaps he has made peace, realizing in this economy and the state of radio that any job is better than no job. But....we all know what happens to morning people when they are moved to another shift. At that point they are overpaid for a shift other than mornings. So one of three scenarios occurs. 1) Jock leaves on his own. This is what management wants. It's easier. 2) They eventfully fire that person. They don't do it right away so it doesn't look like age discrimination. A file is started to keep track of insubordination and "attitude" issues 3) Jock takes pay cut and stays. Which one will it be??
