WAZL Goes "Standards"

WAZL is now playing what sounds like adult standards. But recorded promos still hawk the old format. There are still liners on the air promoing Mike Naydock in the morning and the Make Believe Rainbow Room. Naydock is long gone and the latter cancelled because if doesn't fit the new format. Huh???
Fox news also gone. Also absent: commerical messages.
Word has it that morning man Jude has bailed as well.
Things sound Rocky in more ways than one.
Is the WNAK simulcast next?
Will the last one left in Downtown Hazleton please turn off the lights!!

You can't have WNAK simulcasting all over the place. WCDL just switched to standards, now WAZL... something's up at Route 81 radio...

WHY NOT???? WCDL just switched to standards, now WAZL...

I predict the WNAK Good Music Network. You watch, they'll
sell it as the Good Sound of all of NEPA.

Well, you could..but why be redundant when you have an FM providing strong reception to the WCDL listenership, and the AM providing coverage to the WAZL listenership?

Actually WAZL is not fully staffed anymore. At my last count during the week they only have 2 live on air dj's. They are standards, which for me is neither here nor there. The thing that upsets me here is that their is very little that is local at WAZL anymore. They started off very well and have drifted off. They share their morning news guy with WCDL in Carbondale for crying out loud. I really hope this is only temporary and WAZL will be back to a fully local station. Another poster may have hit in on the head--in an effort to save money you may see a WNAK simulcasted network on WAZL. Especially since the staff at AZL is down to almost nothing. They got rid of the Make Believe Rainbow Room saying it did not fit with the new format--WHAT? Leo's program fits better with standards than it did with AC??? More evidence that a WNAK simulcast may be in WAZL's future. I sincerely hope I'm wrong hear, but I have a bad feeling about this.

Legally you cannot simulcast WAZL/WNAK-AM/WCDL. Too much signal overlap to make the FCC happy.
