WAZL LMA ed

WAZL has been sold and changed hands more in the last 5 years then cars at a garage! Its a shame, that station could still be a money maker if the right people were in there (its been done!)

I remember listening to Hazleton High School basketball and football games on Friday nights on WAZL during the 1950s and early 1960s. We lived on Laurel Hill Terrace virtually under the WAZL tower and when they dropped power to 250 watts at night it did not affect us. However my relatives living on Peace street near the new high school, would complain that they were unable to get "WAZL"!.
( I realize they are now 1kw full time ). Just a pleasant memory about a quality, small town radio station in the 1950s.

Those of us who continually long for the "good old days" are really pulling for a community based radio station to succeed. Godspeed.

Seriously, have you been to Hazleton recently? I was there three months ago, and I'm shocked I didn't get killed. Place is a mess.

Plus, you're fighting an uphill battle- against two local tv stations (if you can call them that) Local News 13 and WYLN.

Prediction sure to go wrong- WAZL goes dark by the end of 2013.

Stumbled upon this station yesterday driving between Schuylkill and Monroe Counties to visit my wife's aunt. Was just fooling around hitting the "seek" button to see what it would stop on and found Christmas music on 1490 AM. Had a devil of a time figuring out what station it was since I didn't hear any liners or promos or anything at all. Maybe I just didn't listen long enough because I lost the signal in a few spots or it was too noisy to listen to without it being annoying. But I did hold onto a somewhat listenable signal all through the southern portions of Schuylkill, Carbon, and Monroe Counties.
