WAZL New Owner

Why would someone want to purchase a (long ago forgotten) AM frequency???

I mean, any frequency if ran properly could be a money maker, however whomever purchased WAZL, I doubt they plan on massively upgrading and spending a wad to put out a top-notch product.

It will probably be satellite-fed or used as a simulcast for ROCK 107? ;D haha.

Hopefully whoever does buy it would try and keep the local flavor. People like Mike Naydock, Tony Pacelli, Leo & Carl are all good people. It would be a shame for them to have to go.

So, who's it going to be? I heard an offer to purchase has been accepted.
I suppose you could always ask Lyra but be very careful. Do not ever look him directly in the eye. Very very dangerous! Remember he is like a cobra.

I've been told that the entire airstaff has been let go. Some are staying on until Friday, but most are out the door now. It's too bad - they were nice people both on and off the air.

Ah, dear old WAZL. I miss the days of having to go into the WAZL studio to change the compilation CD's in the 6-disc CD changer while I was doing my airshifts on The Bear.

It was there that I learned that Reader's Digest used to put out "Great Songs Of The 40's & 50's" CD's, and where I became a fan of the "Ultra Lounge" sampler discs :)

If Mike Naydock's gone, sorry to hear. And if that's Leo Valovich referenced above, also sorry to hear (What a set of pipes... I could listen to that guy talk all day).

WAZL was off the air and gone during this afternoon's major storm. When they came back on it was nice to see that the new owner's fully automated station was right there to tell everyone what was happening. NOT! If you thought Route 81 did a poor job, wait until you see this gigantic failure. Lyra & his gang will look like Westhinghouse compared this this low-rent operation.

More than obviously, you weren't listening. When it came back on, there was a live announcer doing a play-by-play, keeping people informed of the weather situation.
