WAZY GETS NEW PD

I know I don't know anybody that listens to them. Then again, ever since Stephanie left WAZY I don't think there's been a decent morning show on any of the Lafayette stations. Reason people like Bob Vizza and Rick Mummy and the like are 'names' around town is because they actually worked at their career b/c they understand radio is about a show - not just lighting up the mic and doing a little as possible which is what most on-air people do anymore I think. Why, I remember back in my day... ;D

If you would take the time to read my post y ou would note that I did not list anyone by order of "talent", but by oder of time spent in the market.

Thanks for playing!!!!

Since this WAZY PD thing is always a new person every 6 months can we make this it's own board?

Actually, this thread wouldn't be so big if it hadn't morphed into a Lafayette air talent thread.

There's nothing really newsworthy about WAZY getting a PD. Now, Z keeping a PD for longer than 6 months would be something worth talking about.

In one of the first episodes of WKRP in Cincinnati, didn't the GM ask the PD how long he'd been there, to which the PD answered, "About 2 weeks", and the GM replied, "In that case you're fired."? One of the well-known "attributes" of our industry.

WAZY set to go Hot AC in fall book on the bird
WLFF stays on the current bird
WSHP goes on the bird after Bob and Tom
WSHY goes on the bird all day as Classic Country...

Now you wanna talk talent in the market...how can you compare when everyone is based in Omaha?

But anyway, what happened exactly with Steve Clark? I see he's still listed as Programming Consultant. In what capacity has he remained with AMP? Is he still in the Lafayette market, or has he moved to another AMP property?

Just curious.

From what I hear... (I'm now out of town and only in the loop via rumors) Steve is a consultant for the stations and is on an on-call basis. I think he left radio and is in video production. Although, I am not 100% positive on that.

As far as the new PD goes...GOOD LUCK!

WAZY going Hot AC could be possible. When Dan was in the building they asked him to age it up and lean AC. When he left, they claimed they wanted to go back to CHR, all the while they hired a new PD that came from an AC station.

That station needs so much help.

Steve and I are friends and he left for a better gig. Who wouldnt? Dan and I used to be friends and I remember the dozens of times he would come out to the house frustrated that he had no control of the stations direction. The GM, Consultant and Dan wanted to keep the station mainstream (and ironically it won the Women 18-34 demo for Fall 06) but corporate was tweaking it more Hot AC. Then after all 3 left, they told everyone that the guys were messing it up and they were staying Top 40. I really dont think Indianapolis knows what they want with the station. Best of luck to Chris, they just need to stunt and flip to something better!

The Indiana Broadcaster's website has a job posting for a Morning or Afternoon person, and the contact info is still Chris Carter, so he hasn't been fired or quit...yet.

At AMP's WAZY Lafayette, this weeks PD has arrived. Jimmy Knight blows in from Fla... Word to those newbies...keep your resume updated.

Indiana Airwaves reports new PD at WAZY. It appears the duration has now been shortened to about four months.

If you look up mismanagement in the dictionary next to it would be a picture of Angotti and Artistic Media Partners next to it. :)

Good place to start mismanaging is the payroll department. Because no one wants to work for free.

Is father or son the issue? Seems like they've gone through a bunch of managers. Could right one solve problem or is it helpless?

Sometimes you have to consider the source of the bad talk. And, it is just radio so we must
lighten up. The people and employees of AMP are busy doing production, selling time, on air,
and just doing the business of radio.
Meanwhile, accross town other stations are playing on the internet as their automation
systems run. In the end, it reflects bad on the companies who are talking the trash.
