WB Kids Continues On Saturday Mornings....

I thought the WB is dead? It appears that WB Kids will still be around. Because the local WB affiliate WVTV soon to be CW18 in Milwaukee was advertising debut of a new cartoon premiering on "the WB Kids" on Saturday, Sept. 23rd.

Here's the reason why (courtest a MediaWeek article; http://www.mediaweek.com/mw/news/networktv/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1002384275)

"Betsy McGowen, senior vp and general manager of Kids WB! on CW, the same position she held when the block aired on the WB, said the decision to keep the Kids WB! name after the network ceases to exist was made after surveys showed that the name scored high in recognition among kids 6-11. 'With CBS changing to DIC-produced kids programming and NBC dropping Discovery on Saturday mornings, we felt it would be best to keep the name consistent,' said McGowen."

The schedule includes a 7am-8am "Pillowhead" block that satisfies the E/I requirement, leaving stations to only have to program two hours of E/I programming.

That's why they should have just stayed with the WB name all along. I don't think it's worth changing the name to CW just because CBS wants recognition for their role in the partnership. The WB works! Why fix something that's not broken?!
