I just noticed Wb101 is not playing rock anymore, they are playing oldies type stuff again. Anyone know what happened?

Sounds like to me the staff ran out and left a Commadores CD's tracking "Heard It Through the Grapevine. According to ArkansasGossip dot com, more changes are happening to the former "River 101.1". I think the out cry from the public has forced the management to bring back John Lee and the River format. On another note, is anyone really interested in another "Rock" format?

I hear that "Jack" is coming to town... we'll see very soon!

Jack would certainly make more sense than a format that failed on a much bigger signal just a year before. I never really understood why they killed off the River anyway.

I think country would be impractical in this market. Going up against the huge signal and heritage of KSSN would just be suicide for 101.1's Class A signal. It wouldn't be any real competition for KSSN. I guess they could knock them out of #1 by chipping away a 3.0 share or something, but I don't think that would work to their advantage.

If not Jack, how about Spanish? Equity has the Univision station in the same building... Univision Radio?

Here is my two cents...

101.1 on the dial reminds me of a cursed resturant location: one where establishments come and go every 6 months. The music wasn't that bad toward the end (what little that i've been able to hear it since I live out of range of that station), but not great either. Any format that Equity brings to 101.1 is going to have a strike against it: a low power stick. Sure, it will be a decent signal in the immediate Little Rock metro, but try to hear the station in the outlying areas (Pine Bluff, Stuttgart, or even Hot Springs). Yes there are larger stations that are flowdering (ie 103.7) but the "format of the month" is getting a little old folks. "Jack FM" from what I know is a very trendy format that will be gone quickly joining the ranks of "jamin' oldies", "70's formats" of the 1990's, and the post-Nirvana "modern rock" clones that bloomed for a few years.

As for John Lee, not sure he will jump back to a station with a much smaller signal, then again, the guys at Archway have already done their "magic" to the Oldies station on 106.3 (generic sat/voice tracking) replacing the weekends.

Its anyone's guess what will pop up on the fomer 'DRE/River/WB101

From what info can you base Jack FM being gone quickly? You're half right and half wrong at the same time. Sure, Jack might be a has-been in five years, but at the present, the more established Jack FMs and other variety hits stations across the country are doing quite well. <P ID="signature">______________

It's official! Sort of....DRE 101.1 is now a Jack/urban. Whatever that is.

I'm not in the market. Does this mean that the station is a "Jack"-type station, but playing a wide variety of urban music (as opposed to the wide variety of pop/rock that most "Jack"-type stations play)??

Or is it a blend of a "Jack" format with urban music tossed-in??

Well, the Imaging says "Jammin Oldies WB 101" and they are playing music from the 60's... (i've only listened for a few songs, but it's been pretty consistent)

I thought "jammin oldies" was a dead format. It's just now coming to the Rock?
