WBAB: Bubba Mornings?

I have no inside info, but I was inspired to start this thread based on another one on the Tampa board:
http://www.radio-info.com/smf/index.php/topic,113381.0.html

Apparently, Tampa-based Bubba the Love Sponge is hinting at a national syndication deal. Currently, he does mornings at WHPT/Tampa and is simulcast only on WFYV/Jacksonville. (He does a completely different afternoon drive show on Stern's channels on Sirius XM.) But with Cox' recent cost-cutting measures, I could see Bubba expanding to more markets, and WBAB could fit right in.

No offense to Roger & JP - they're good at what they do, they're local and they've been there a long time. With that said, therein lies the "problem" - if you're tenured anywhere for a long period or time, or doing a local shift, or both, chances are you might be a budget cut victim. That's just the sad truth of the biz.

Sorry to break it to you but I was listening to the guys last week and they were talking the other day about how they just signed a new 2 year deal with WBAB

It's amazing the amount of mis-info that gets posted on this board.
Is it all just rumors and nonsence on here?

Well, good for them! I'm glad to hear that Long Island's rock station won't become another victim of cookie cutter corporate moves in the near future. Rock on! 8)

Bubba's last terrestrial sybdication ended in pretty spectacular failure. He worked on 98 Rock/WXTB in Tampa Bay. Locally, he was airing on Radio 104/WMRQ in Hartford. I think he was on the air around here until the blew up the format and flipped to Power 104.1. Not sure how much longer he was around at 98 Rock.

Yes for some people who thrive on this stuff it is, because everyone when they saw the thread clicked on it right away, thinking either someone was getting fired, or someones career would be in trouble. This is also the nature of the beast called radio!

I did see where the original post said he had no infomation on this, so no offense to him.

Why would bab make any changes in their morning show? They have numbers, listeners and sales, Bubba the Love sponge wouldnt fly on Long Island (imho).

Congrats to Roger and JP on their signing the 2 year deal..

Roger & JP do a great job. Even with all of the music, they still seem to put on a show every day. Lot's of listener involvement. They're a fun listen. Does anyone else on Long Island even try to put on a show? There are too many shows doing bad interviews with people that no one cares about. They take interviews because it's easier than actually coming up with their own compelling ideas. Barnstable seems to like to use their morning shows to playcate client's egos. If I hear one more interview with an Islander player I'm gonna puke. Between that and the plastic surgeons that they no doubt make Phathead do it's rediculous. They should kill 2 birds with one stone and have the Islander's coach get a nose job on the air.

Jim Douglas is a world class jock and does a great job with Kim Berk on their show, and they are of the barnstable faith!

Just for argument's sake: Knowing Roger & JP are under contract, what are the odds that they move to afternoon drive, so that Cox corporate puts Bubba on in the morning? That way, there would be two shows that go for the same demos, on the same station, in both crucial drive times. Or would listeners not warm up to R & JP on the ride home?
