WBAD has lived up to it's name BAD! I was in the market recently and have never heard a radio station that is more of a throw back to the dark ages. Music was all over the place, jocks seemed to have zero structure, and the basic presentation was something I have not heard since the early days of Black radio. This station is really setting a extremely poor example for the young Blacks in the area. Who ones the miserable excuse for a radio station?
 
Who ONES it? Interchange Communications, licensee, OWNS it ... original owner going back to 1973 when WBAD came on the air. Principals are William D Jackson, a veteran broadcaster/engineer, and Stanley S Sherman, local businessman. I have known them both for the 40 years they have owned the station.
 
This is not one of these stations where the jocks talk over the vocals and keep turning the music volume off while talking is it? 13-KXI used do that and WMPR still does it some. There used to be a guy late night on WMPR that was a motormouth. He would talk constantly during the song and kept turning the music down to make funny comments. I can't remember his name, but he was definitely entertaining. He was usually on very early, before sunrise cutting up and joking around. Anybody remember that guy and his name?
 
Sorry J Alex, I sometimes type faster then my mind can think! When I heard the station I really thought I had fallen into a time warp. The jock that was on the air was a poor excuse for an announcer. I will admit that he was a personality in his own right but broke every rule of broadcasting and certainly was not a role modle for youngesters in the market (black or white). The station still has no website which may not be the worst thing in the world to happen. Did not mean to offend you or the owners but just wondered who OWNED the station. Am sure they are making money hand over fist but at what cost?
