OK, I see. Never knew they were that directional at night, I always just assumed that since I get them up here they weren't.

I'm surprised to hear this. I always thought that WBAL covered a greater portion of the east coast at night, not just the states north of Maryland.

Though we are pretty far north in PA, WBAL is a car radio catch around the clock. It isn't very loud in the day, but it's there. So is WCBM 680.
Despite that proximity, I would imagine that 1090 would be a swell sunset channel even here. A lot of stations from the south and west of here are on 1090 in that designed void between WBAL and KAAY.

Curious, Dave :
Do you get either WTIC or KRLD at night regularly?

WBAL's been a rare catch in Fayetteville NC as long as I can remember. Usually 1100 WWWE/WTAM came in pretty good.
I'll have to check for WBAL tonight though.

I can hear WBAL faintly off the back of their night pattern here in Lexington, KY most nights. They mix with KAAY-1090 out of Little Rock which is usually the stronger of the two stations at my location. Two years ago last November while on a trans-Atlantic cruise, I WAS able to Hear WBAL fairly well in the Mid-Atlantic east of Bermuda around 9-10 PM.

WBAL is a regular catch, up here in eastern Ontario (along with WTIC, etc.). Throwing a very good signal, my way right now, with about 15 minutes before local sunset. I'll have to check it out after the 'critical hours' period has passed.
