Wondering what y'all think of the parade of people passing through WBAP from 6-9PM. I haven't heard anyone worth mentioning. Any thoughts?

Ive had more deep thought and conversation with myself passing a bowel blockage than what they've been putting on the air post-macnamera.

And both consist of the same matter. skip the parade. It's david gold.

I have it on fairly good authority it's NOT David Gold. And, if he were the choice, why wouldn't he already be on instead of these insipid people? There's a whole line up of people this week and next. Why bother with them if it's Gold?

And... all these "lifestyle" people are BORING! Seems like a train wreck to go from Davis to Limbaugh to Hannity to -- what -- speed dating? Yawn. Let's get someone who has some chops.

Sorry to say-- a truly sad lot-- 'BAP's a major station, how 'bout major talent?

Show me where Gold got ratings ONCE, anywhere.

Mr. Murrow,

Why don't you go for the job since you're doing soooo well :)

Gold hasn't gotten ratings anywhere.. not in San Fran, not in Dallas, nowhere... he's not anything better than a fill-in talent. Brian Wilson from Washington has filled in for Mark Davis too -- a LOT more than Gold has, and he's much better and is much more entertaining and informative.

Re: women in the time period, they've had several fill-in and they've been awful! Lightweight, non-political stuff... makes me think that ABC/Disney is using this time period for auditions other than WBAP.

Regardless, still haven't heard anyone impressive worth being on WBAP. Tonight, "Hambrick on the radio" is nothing more than a talking head... kinda like a balloon with nothing inside, just air. Wasn't he some TV talking head somewhere? Please, WBAP, let's see someone who has something to say -- someone entertaining, informative, and who's worth keeping the radio on for.

I'm looking forward to hearing other people. I haven't heard anyone I've liked yet.

I guess you young 'uns must have been still taking radio-tv classes at North Texas State when David Gold did afternoon drive on KLIF for 12 years back in the days when KLIF was averaging about a 3.0 18+ consistently. I suppose you also don't know that for the last year he has been the number one fill-in host for the entire chain of ABC's owned & operated stations. I figure you must think that the people at KSFO in San Francisco are idiots for paying him to do a weekend show instead of selling that time to a mortgage company or investment management company. Yeppers, y'all are a bunch of stone-cold radio geniuses. It's just amazing that the big boys at ABC, Infinity, Clear Channel etc. don't pay closer attention to this board to seek out new programming talent for their operations.

Ya know-- I have to agree-- David Gold when on KLIF1190/570 (yes they moved while he was still there)-- KICKED BUTT from 3PM to 6PM-- long before a Mark Davis and RUSH LIMBAUGH-- mainly because David didn't have any competition here in the market, once some of it showed up.. his numbers slipped.. and like any other Politically motivated talk show (as David's was known to be) if your canidate is IN office, you don't bash him and sometimes your show slips in numbers. HOWEVER! (and I will preface this by saying it makes NOT ONE DIFFERENCE TO ME) but it might to others that listened to Gold during his KLIF days-- but he was sure making a lot self promotion when he went through his religious conversion, and went from being Jewish to Baptist, and that might have caught some of his listeners off guard a bit. TO most, I would think that its not a big deal, but to others, it might have sent signals that they were not comfortable with.

I will say this, I have enjoyed some of his debates, but I am not a firm fan of his in particular, but I think his style of radio is still valuable... whether your thoughts about him coming full time to WBAP is valid, well thats yet to be seen... I do like Hambrick on the air though.. nice sound and good quality.

Just a thought

For whatever reason, KLIF was obviously dissatified and parted ways.
