WBAP 96.7 FM Signal Strength

I know it's been discussed before, but I can't remember. How far does WBAP FM reach going south, east and west? (I neglected north cause their transmitter is up around the Wise/Cooke County line)

I've heard it all the way to Burleson myself but not sure if it could go farther. Matt

It should be noted that with a good car radio, you can often consistently listen beyond the purple line on the Radio-Locator maps. However, with a pocket or table radio listenable reception is usually well within the red line.

Obviously, your millage may vary depending on station, weather conditions, congestion of frequency and other factors.

On my countless drives between DFW and Houston I've found that the northern rimshots put a decent signal into Ennis, but are pretty much down in the noise when I get to Corsicana. The Cedar Hill sticks will make it past Fairfield, but with no usable signal past Buffalo.

I have picked it up as far away as Oklahoma City. And that's not the AM signal either.

As someone who lives in Lubbock, I take the long drive on 114 quite often. WBAP can go very far west. The non-rimshot Dallas stations normally fade out not too far passed Jacksboro. WBAP on the other hand fades out for good probably around Seymour.

In the spring during tropo season where stations tend to travel farther, I can hear WBAP almost all the way to Lubbock.

If you can get FM in OKC from 96.7, must've been a tropo event. As I've posted before, the mountains north of Ardmore on I-35 block signals either way and when you go over the crest, you have to switch.

It was a tropo event. There was weather moving in causing the signal to catch at late night hours.

Today down a bumpy 377, it was in till Stephenville. Faded around there (as did most of the cedar hill stations especially 96.3 (with 95.9 there).
