WBAP JFK Assassination Audio

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone recorded the original audio from WBAP and their coverage of the JFK assassination. I recorded hours of their stream only to discover that Rush Limbaugh aired right after the 1:00p news. I was under the impression they were replaying the audio in real time, but I guess that was only for a special internet stream, and not for their regular broadcast?

Anyway, if anyone has audio they'd be willing to share, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks.

Side note - if this was such a big deal, why couldn't they have taken some time to do the recreated broadcast in real time over the airwaves? Too much of a "War of the Worlds" phenomenon? Nothing against Rush, but isn't this type of opportunity what makes (or should make) radio special?

WBAP played the real-time audio on their air during the 40th anniversary in 2003. The fidelity was amazing. Sounded like it was happening live.

That year, the day fell on a Saturday, which might explain partly why they put it on air.
